When Brian Brigham walked into the vast 19th Century house at 1004 Augusta Street in the spring of 1999, she knew she had found the perfect place for her antiques and interior design business. Built in 1868 by William Wilkins of the Wilkins-Poe Hardware Company of Greenville, South Carolina, the substantial brick house features a three-story tower topped by a pyramid roof, an expansive front porch, and more than 12,000 square feet on two floors. This grand showplace that now houses The Galleries of Brian Brigham was known as `The Villa' back in the day, and was the home of Harriett Wilkins - `Greenville's Grandest Hostess'.
This unique two-story mansion is the ideal setting for Brian Brigham's collection of distinctive antiques and unique architectural pieces. Following in the footsteps of one of the city's leading hostesses, Brian has returned the stately manor of William and Harriet Wilkins to its original grandeur, filling more than 20 rooms with antique furniture, chandeliers, mirrors, china, jewelry, purses and literally thousands of other vintage collectibles.
Newspaper accounts of the day tell the story of the grand gatherings at 1004 Augusta Street. "Dinner would begin with a favorite appetizer served in gold rimmed crystal compotes. Or the 12 guests at the mahogany table in the regal dining room might be served half a dozen raw oysters each in Dresden cocktail plates."
From antique oyster plates to early 19th Century French settees, The Galleries of Brian Brigham lets you experience an extraordinary bygone era. Whether a collector or just curious, release your passion for antiques and vintage collectibles at The Galleries of Brian Brigham.
